ABSTRACT:
Sun Ops Center helps IT organizations to create a dynamic, virtualized datacenter where resources are grouped into pools, and where virtual machines are allocated to servers in a pool depending on current workload characteristics. Encounter an unexpected workload spike, or enter into an expected period of higher workload intensity, and Sun Ops Center can recruit new servers into a resource pool by powering them on, provisioning the entire firmware, guest OS, and application stack, and putting them to work to help meet required service levels. With a few clicks of the mouse, or on an automatic schedule, Sun Ops Center can re-allocate virtual servers to physical ones, helping to even out workload spikes and make the most of capital investments.

The dynamic datacenter is one that can align itself with business objectives with the swiftness and agility that is necessary to stay ahead of the competition. In today’s environment of resource scarcity, the ability to power servers on and off and reorganize the relationship of virtual to physical machines helps to do more with limited power and cooling resources.
